Used a Unibit and cut a hole into the centre of the skin. Used a dremmel with a cutting disk to shave it close to the line. Used a small sanding drum on the dremmel to finalize the shape.
For other builders using this mast...make sure you go at least two rivet holes past the rib before taping on the template. You want two rivet holes, then the three for the mast where it gets riveted along the flange. I went one rivet hole past the rib and I have a clearance issue with the mast and the rib. I will have to remove about an 1/8th of a inch from the base of the inboard part of the mast to ensure there is no conact with the rib...not a big deal, but just extra work.
Happy overall and a nice seal with RTV and proseal between the skin and the mast will make a very good seal.
